Waiting for the GTA 6 release in November is painful. Although it’s only two months away, fans have been aching to play it. After the Extended Look was released on Netflix, a modder made a mod for GTA 5 that changes the minimap style to look similar to the upcoming GTA 6, and you can download it right now.
GTA 5 With a GTA 6 Style Minimap HUD Makeover
A modder who goes by sej0bec just dropped a mod called "GTA VI Styled Minimap & HUD (Legacy)" on the site GTA5-Mods. It's a 157 MB download, and it basically reskins your entire GTA 5 HUD to look like it belongs in GTA 6.
The minimap shape, border style, and even the waypoint color all get swapped out to match GTA 6's look, based on the extended gameplay footage released on Netflix last month. Every other HUD element on your screen also gets a cleaner, more modern facelift.

The Version 2.0 update for this mod also adds more GTA 6-inspired changes to the interface. The Health and Special Ability bars have been redesigned and are now context-sensitive, appearing when the player takes damage, aims a weapon, gets attacked, or starts sprinting. Of course, it is still the same GTA 5 game, so no actual gameplay changes have been made.
However, before you get too excited, this mod only handles the 2D map design. GTA 6's real showstopper feature, where the minimap switches to actual 3D satellite-style visuals of Vice City in certain moments, isn't part of this package.

This mod is PC-only, and here's what you need:
- Download and install OpenIV if you don't already have it.
- Grab the mod's OIV file from GTA5-Mods.
- Drag that file into OpenIV.
- Pick your GTA 5 mods folder when prompted.

If you just cannot wait to try GTA 6, then this mod could slightly satisfy your thirst. But if you prefer to experience all the new features and get excited about the game as a whole, then it's better to just wait for the official release in November. You’ve waited for over a decade, so two more months shouldn’t be a problem.
