Where to Find the Sound Breathing Style Trainer

The Sound Breathing Style trainer is named Tengai, located in Iceveil Valley deep in the snow region. Here is the full path to reach him:

  • Step 1: Start at the first major area near Crew and head toward the Mother Bear area.
  • Step 2: Move left into the snow region. Bring health potions or a lantern as the cold will continuously drain your health while you travel through this area. Use the campfires along the path to regenerate health before pushing deeper.
  • Step 3: Pass two campfires then turn right at the NPC and head toward the water.
  • Step 4: Climb the first large mountain visible past the water. Tengai is waiting on the other side of the mountain.

Once you find Tengai, interact with them while carrying your Demon Horns, Beast Cores, and Wen to begin the Sound Breathing questline.

All Sound Breathing Training Tasks

After speaking to Tengai and meeting all requirements, you need to complete six training tasks before Sound Breathing unlocks. Follow the active quest marker after each objective to move to the next one.

  • Push Ups: Follow the button prompts displayed on screen and press each one when the timing indicator reaches the correct position. Continue until the task hits 100% and the next objective unlocks.
  • Barbell Squats: A unique task where you need to align your input with a vertically moving bar on screen. Keeping your input within the bar counts toward progress. Continue holding your input in the correct position until the task reaches 100% completion.
  • Boulder Split: A boulder-cutting minigame where you follow on-screen prompts and keep your inputs aligned with the required movement pattern. Complete the objective and the quest updates to the next task.
  • Cup Training: A memory-based minigame that runs 10 rounds. A ball is hidden under one of three cups, and the cups are shuffled. Track which cup the ball is under and select it correctly after the shuffle. You have 3 lives, and a wrong guess costs one. Stay focused through all 10 rounds.
  • Underwater Rocks: Head to the lake in Bamboo Grove and find 5 glowing blue rocks scattered around the lakebed. The rocks can spawn anywhere in the lake but are easy to spot due to their blue glow. Collect all five to complete the objective.
