How to Set Album as Wallpaper on iPhone

iOS 17.1 is here and with it comes a new feature where you can set an album as your lock screen wallpaper. When you do that, your wallpaper will shuffle through all the images saved in that album. There are already different ways to change wallpaper automatically but now, you can select an album of your favorite photos and have them rotate as your wallpaper so you never get bored of seeing the same image every day. Here’s how to set an album as wallpaper on the iPhone.

Check Your iOS Version

First, make sure your iPhone is running iOS 17.1 or above.

1. To check the iOS version, navigate to Settings > General > About.

2. Here, you can view the iOS version of your iPhone.

If your iOS version is below 17.1, follow these steps to update it, provided your iPhone model is compatible.

1. Go to Settings > General as mentioned in the previous steps and navigate to Software Update > Update Now.

How to Create an Album on iPhone

Let’s first explore how to create a new album on your iPhone before setting it as wallpaper.

1. Start by opening the Photos app. Once you’re in, simply head over to the Albums tab. After that, tap on the + icon located at the top left corner.

2. Here, choose New Album, type in the name of your album in the empty field, and click Save.

3. Select the photos you think would look good as wallpapers and tap on the Add button located in the upper right corner.

How to Add Album as Wallpaper on iPhone

Using an album can turn your wallpaper into a canvas for your memories that will automatically update with new photos. Here is how you can add an album as wallpaper on your iPhone.

1. Head over to Settings and choose Wallpaper. Then, hit the option that says + Add New Wallpaper.

2. Now, tap on Photo Shuffle and select Album.

3. Favourites album is selected by default. Tap on it and select the album you want to use as wallpaper.

4. You can also adjust how long each photo appears during the shuffle in your album. Simply tap on Shuffle Frequency and choose the desired duration like daily, hourly, on tapping, or on locking.

5. Tap on Use Album and you’ll see a preview of the wallpaper from your album, along with some more options to edit and customize your lock screen. After finalizing your lock screen, tap on Add button at the top right.

6. If you want to set a different wallpaper for your home screen, tap on Customise Home Screen. Otherwise, tap on Set as Wallpaper Pair and you’re good to go.

Note: Selecting Set as Wallpaper Pair will change the wallpapers on both the home and lock screens.
