The best Gears of War E-Day Marksman build is for players who do not need to be in the middle of the fight to have a big impact. This class spots the biggest threat on the battlefield, marks it, and takes it out before it ever becomes a problem for the rest of the squad. Marksman is not about topping the kill chart. Focal Lens increases the range of the Pulse Drone so it can mark enemies from farther away. Since you are going to be operating at a distance for most of the mission, this makes sure your drone's range matches your sightline range.

Deep Pockets gives you more ammo in reserve for all your weapons. Sniper rifles have small magazines and limited reserve ammo, so running dry is a real problem mid-fight. This mod keeps you stocked up longer without spending energy at supply caches.

Best Defense heals you every time you kill an enemy from cover. Marksman spends most of the match in or near cover at range, so this triggers very often. It keeps your health steady without needing constant help from a Medic.

The Longshot is built for one purpose: landing critical hits that remove targets cleanly. Precision Long Barrel is your most important mod here as it boosts critical damage and accuracy, and any shot that connects will pass through multiple enemies lined up together. The first thing to understand is that your goal is not the most kills. Your goal is the most important kills, taken as early as possible. When a mission starts, find a position where you have a clear line of sight to the area your squad is holding or moving through. High ground works best, but any spot where you can see enemies coming before they arrive at your teammates is fine. You want to be settled in before the first big push.

Once you are set up, deploy the Pulse Drone toward incoming enemies. The drone tags everything in range; your squad can see the marked targets, and those targets become a shared focus for the whole team. Call out the highest-priority threats first, as anything with a lot of health or big damage output needs to go before it reaches your squad.

Then start taking headshots. The Longshot with Precision Long Barrel is extremely satisfying when you find your rhythm. Clean headshots do massive damage and that mod chains the shot through multiple lined-up targets. Practice Active Reloads so you always have Perfect Ammo available. When things are going well, you will be chaining clean kills on priority targets one after another and your squad will barely take any damage at all.

Keep your distance but do not vanish from your squad entirely. Marksman has no built-in self-healing. If a group of Locusts manages to surround you with no teammates nearby, it can go badly very quickly. Stay far enough to be safe, close enough that someone can reach you if needed.

Marksman is a class that makes the whole squad better without always showing up in the kill stats. When the Pulse Drone is working and you are clearing dangerous enemies before they become a problem, you will notice your teammates surviving longer, dying less, and performing better across the board.
