12 New GTA 6 Screenshots Reveal Side Activities in Leonida

Rockstar just gave fans another look at Vice City and the wider Leonida map with 12 new screenshots released through Game Informer's latest issue. The images cover everything from Lucia and Jason to wildlife, beaches, rural areas, fast travel, and more. Rockstar is building a map that is roughly twice the size of GTA 5, while also making it denser and filling it with more interiors and activities. Here is what the new GTA 6 screenshots tell you about the game.

1. Lucia and Jason Are Still at the Center

One of the GTA 6 cover story screenshots shows Lucia and Jason relaxing at a busy beach. There are NPCs everywhere, beach umbrellas, buildings in the background, and even someone running while carrying an American flag. It is actually super populated, so this one screenshot itself already debunked the theory that GTA 6 wouldn't be able to handle high NPC density.

The relationship between Lucia and Jason is also more flexible than in previous GTA games. Players can control them separately or together, and their relationship can remain platonic or become romantic depending on player choices.

2. Lucia Shows Off the More Dangerous Side of GTA 6

One screenshot shows Lucia hiding behind a barrel with an assault rifle, wearing a red bandana over her face while gang members stand nearby. This fits with the expanded crime and police systems Rockstar has described. Robberies can be handled in different ways, while the new Heat system allows police to use things such as your appearance and location to identify you.

Changing clothes, changing hairstyles, abandoning a getaway vehicle, or splitting up from your partner can all help when trying to escape. That makes getting away after a crime more involved than simply driving until the wanted stars disappear.

3. Jason Takes the Action Into the Wilderness

Jason appears riding an ATV with a rifle strapped to his back and deer drinking from the water nearby. This screenshot says a lot about the areas outside Vice City. The wider map includes swamps, countryside, beaches, industrial areas, and national park environments, along with activities such as ATV trails, motocross, animal hunting, mountain biking, and fishing.

4. Vice City Looks Packed From Every Angle

Another GTA 6 screenshot gives a wide look at Vice City at night, with the skyline, roads, waterfront, and various attractions visible in the distance. The lightings happening in this image is actually spectacular. It is a good reminder that Rockstar is not simply bringing back the old Vice City and making it look prettier. The modern version is much larger and is designed around a greater level of detail.

Rockstar says Leonida has more interiors, detailed rooftops, alleys, and buildings that are designed to feel like part of one connected world.

5. The Beach Is More Than Just Scenery

The beach screenshot also hints at how much of Leonida is meant to be used outside missions. GTA 6 includes activities such as jet skiing, scuba diving, kayaking, mini golfing, and base jumping, so you have so many reasons to spend time away from the main story, or even spend the money you get from robberies to do these activities.

6. Wildlife Is a Major Part of Leonida

The wildlife screenshot shows animals in a natural environment, and in the Game Informer interview, we found out that GTA 6 has more than 170 animal species, including more than 30 land mammals and 60 bird varieties. The game will also include fish and reptiles across different environments

Moreover, Rockstar says aquatic animals such as sharks, jellyfish, whales, turtles, every creature has different movement behavior.

7. The Map Has Six Main Regions

Another screenshot shows two men standing on a wooden dock at night, with alligators swimming underneath them and an airboat nearby. This is one of the clearest examples of how different Leonida can look outside Vice City.

8. Rural Leonida Has Its Own Life

Another screenshot shows a crop-duster plane spraying an orchard, with workers, a pickup truck, and a water tower nearby. Rockstar is trying to show that Leonida isn't built entirely around criminal activity. The northern and rural sections include farms, ranches, and other outdoor activities.

9. Weather Could Change How the World Feels

A screenshot showing a plane flying over the islands during a storm gives another look at GTA 6's weather system. Rockstar has completely reworked weather so conditions can be localized and persistent.

Rain can also leave puddles and wet surfaces behind after the storm has passed. Wind affects water, hair, vegetation, and loose objects around the environment. And yes, hurricanes are confirmed. Rockstar has not revealed how frequently they occur or exactly how much they affect missions and the story, though.

10. There Is Plenty to Do Away From Missions

The new screenshots fit into a much bigger list of activities Rockstar has confirmed for GTA 6:

The sheer variety is useful because the map is so large. A bigger world needs activities that make wandering around feel worthwhile.

Taken individually, the 12 screenshots are mostly short glimpses. Put them together, though, they paint a much clearer picture of GTA 6. You have Lucia and Jason, crowded city streets, beaches, wildlife, farms, waterways, forests, airboats, aircraft, and dangerous criminal situations all sitting inside the same world. That variety should give GTA 6's open world much more personality, and we can't wait to see it.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19th, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (countdown timer). For now, the biggest takeaway is simple: Leonida is shaping up to be much more than a bigger GTA map.
