Rockstar dropped the GTA 6 launch trailer, and just like every other GTA reveal, there’s way more going on than what you catch on the first watch. We have watched it many times, and we went through it frame by frame, and the amount of detail Rockstar crammed into a 90-second video is pretty wild. Here are 20 small details that stood out in the newest GTA 6 launch trailer.

1. Jason’s Army Shirt References the Very First GTA Game

If you pause on Jason’s tees during the trailer, you can make out the name of the school he trained at: the Marauder Combat Training School at North Fort Law. Longtime GTA fans will recognize North Fort Law as the military base from the original GTA game, which was set in the State of New Guernsey.

2. The “Marauder” on His Shirt Also Matches His Arm Tattoo

The word “Marauder” on Jason’s shirt could be a clue about his military past. It matches the skull-and-parachute tattoo on his arm, which was also visible in earlier GTA 6 screenshots and the opening of the launch trailer. The Marauders might be the military unit he served in, with a possible connection to the real-life Merrill’s Marauders. If this theory is correct, Jason had more than basic military training. His combat experience could explain the skills and movements seen throughout the trailer.

3. Jason Was Most Likely Dishonorably Discharged

Right at the start of the trailer, Jason says, “I got in some trouble in the army, didn’t leave on the best of terms. They don’t give loans, anything, to people like me.” This could mean he received a dishonorable discharge, making it difficult to find a decent job or get financial support. Despite his military training, Jason is stuck polishing boats at a marina. This helps explain why he turns to crime.

4. Lucia Is Still in Prison When the Story Begins

When Jason receives a phone call from Lucia during the marina scene, she sounds like she’s calling from prison. This would fit with what earlier GTA 6 trailers have shown about her situation. The fact that Jason is already working and out in the world while Lucia is still locked up suggests their stories kick off at different points in time. I’d guess a big early chunk of the game involves Jason waiting for her release while things slowly start moving.

5. Lucia’s Ankle Monitor

After she gets out, Lucia is seen wearing an ankle monitor in one of the bathroom scenes, and this is potentially a big gameplay detail. In real life, ankle monitors come with movement restrictions. You have to stay within a certain area or be home by a certain time. Rockstar might use this as a natural way to limit how much of the map you can explore in the early hours of the game.

6. The Swamp Mission

One of the coolest scenes in the trailer shows Jason wading through dark, swampy water at night, wearing night vision goggles and carrying a silenced rifle with two other guys alongside him. Nobody can say for sure yet whether this is a flashback to Jason’s army days or an actual present-day mission where he calls in some old squad mates to help pull off a job.

7. A Komodo Dragon Hiding in the Swamp Scene

In that same night vision swamp sequence, there’s what appears to be a Komodo dragon lurking in the background. Komodo dragons are native to Indonesia, not Florida, so spotting one in Leonida is pretty strange. It could be an exotic pet someone released into the wild, or it might just be Rockstar having fun. But this also helps with the theory that this might even be a flashback - maybe Jason was sent to Indonesia for some mission.

8. The Dog on the Helicopter Is Wearing Goggles

We already knew you can pet dogs in GTA 6, but this detail is next level. In a quick shot of Jason gearing up inside a helicopter, there’s a dog sitting right next to him, wearing tiny goggles. It looks like the dog might actually come along on missions as a working K-9 partner.

9. GTA 6 Has Sweat Mechanics

We’ve known for a while that hair and beards grow dynamically in GTA 6, but now there’s more: Your character visibly sweats during physical activity. Work out long enough, sprint across town, or push through a tough mission and you’ll see it building up on screen. The guy flexing at the gym in the trailer is a perfect demo of this. It’s a small thing, but it’s the kind of detail that makes the world feel genuinely real.

10. Multiple Jet Ski Models Are in the Game

In the opening Keys sequence and a few other water shots, you can spot at least three different jet ski models. Since GTA 6 takes place in a Florida-inspired setting, having several types of jet skis makes sense. It also shows that Rockstar is adding variety to the game’s vehicles, even for smaller details that could have easily been overlooked.

11. You Can Sit in the Back Seat of a Two-Door Car

This might sound small, but GTA 5 players will get it: two-door cars in GTA 5 couldn’t have rear passengers. In the GTA 6 launch trailer, there’s a scene with a two-door lowrider that clearly has someone chilling in the back seat. That’s a quiet confirmation that the seating system has been completely reworked, and it opens up a lot of possibilities for how passengers and crew members interact with your vehicles.

12. DacityCoin Is GTA 6’s Crypto Parody

A biplane flying over Vice City Beach has “DacityCoin” painted on its side, while a stunt performer standing on the wing waves a bright pink smoke flare. The scene could be Rockstar poking fun at the crypto industry and its over-the-top promotions.

13. The Pink Balaclavas Are a Spring Breakers Reference

Two characters decked out in matching pink balaclavas stand in front of a wall full of golden AKs. If you’ve seen Harmony Korine’s 2012 film Spring Breakers, this shot will look very familiar. It’s practically a direct visual quote from the movie. Rockstar has always loved referencing pop culture through their games, and this one is about as on the nose as it gets.

14. “Goose Key” on the Highway Sign Is a Top Gun Nod

Right at the start of the trailer, if you pause on the road signs as you enter the Keys, you can spot a sign pointing toward “Goose Key," which is a clear reference to Top Gun. It takes about two seconds of screen time, and most people won’t catch it on the first watch. But it’s proof that Rockstar is still hiding Easter eggs in the most mundane places, right down to street signage.

15. Gas Prices Are Visible on the Welcome Sign

Right at the opening shot near the Keys entrance, you can actually spot a gas station sign showing $4.29 for regular gas and $5.22 for diesel. This is Rockstar's hint that fuel prices might fluctuate dynamically in-game. If they do, it’d be one of the most wild immersive details in any open-world game.

16. Globe Oil Returns From GTA 4

During a city driving scene, a Globe Oil truck passes Jason and Lucia. The company has appeared in several previous GTA games, including GTA 4 and GTA: Chinatown Wars. In the latter, players could use Globe Oil canisters to craft Molotov cocktails.

17. “Flower in a Hurricane” Is a Brand New Original Song

The track playing through the entire trailer is a brand new single recorded specifically for the GTA 6 Album. "Flower in a Hurricane" is a collaboration between French electronic duo Justice, Tame Impala, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and SZA. Justice is also composing the game’s original score. You can already listen to the full song on Spotify and YouTube right now.

18. Lucia’s Gold Dress Connects the Launch Trailer to Trailer 2

Lucia’s gold dress in the final part of the launch trailer is the same one she wears in the second GTA 6 trailer. Looking at the scenes from both videos, the events may begin on a yacht, continue at the Nine1Nine club, and end with Jason and Lucia jumping from a rooftop into a pool. These scenes could be parts of the same mission, possibly taking place later in the game. Rockstar may have shown them out of order, leaving players to piece together how everything connects.

19. Schlott Construction Makes a Physical Return From GTA Online

During the scene where Raul Bautista threatens someone at a construction site, a Schlott Construction sign can be seen in the background. The company has appeared before in GTA Online, where its name was featured on vehicles in the Import/Export update. However, GTA 6 appears to give the company a physical location for the first time.

20. Lucia’s Cargo Net Scene and the Building Destruction Are the Same Mission

Two scenes in the GTA 6 launch trailer may be part of the same mission. In the first, a helicopter carries a large object inside a cargo net. Later, Lucia appears to hang from a similar net while firing a grenade launcher at police vehicles. The cargo then crashes into the side of a skyscraper, sending glass flying everywhere. These scenes could be connected, with Lucia hanging from the load as the helicopter moves through the city. If so, the building collision may be part of the mission rather than a random event, adding even more chaos to the action.
