How to Add Discord Chat to Twitch, YouTube, Discord Stream With OBS Studio

Want to show your Discord chat on your YouTube, Twitch, or even Discord streams? It’s easy to add Discord chat to live stream with Discord Streamkit Overlay and OBS Studio. We will show how with simple step-by-step instructions to display your Discord chat on live streams. Let’s get started.

Some points to note:

  • Discord’s Streamkit Overlay is a tool that lets you add your Discord status, chat, or voice chat to your streams.
  • It works on Windows, Mac, and even Linux.
  • You need to have the Discord app installed; the web version will not work.

That being said, here’s how to add your Discord chat to your Twitch, Discord, and YouTube live stream:

  1. Open the Discord app and keep it open in the background for Discord Streamkit Overlay to work.
  2. Go to the Discord Streamkit Overlay website and click Install for OBS.
  3. Authorize the overlay to access your Discord account when prompted.
  4. In Streamkit, open the Chat Widget tab and pick the server and channel you want to show on your Twitch, Discord, or YouTube stream.
  5. Customize the look of your chat. Change the colors, size, background – whatever you like. You’ll see a preview on the webpage.
  6. On the left sidebar, copy the URL that Streamkit provides. Also, make a note of the width and height mentioned there.
  7. Open OBS Studio and add a new Browser source (click the + under Sources).
  8. In the Browser source settings, paste the URL you copied from Streamkit and enter the width and height you noted earlier.
  9. Click OK, and your Discord chat will appear in OBS.
  10. Adjust position and resize the chat widget in OBS to fit your stream perfectly. Then, you’re all set to go live!

Similarly, you can also add a Voice Widget to show voice chats on your streams. In the Streamkit Overlay website, select the Voice Chat tab, customize it, and copy the URL to a Browser source in OBS.
