Age-old tricks that you may have already tried. If so, skip to the next section. For newbies, here are some ways to quickly get BeReal working again.
- Reboot your smartphone because restarting a device is known to work for a few reasons.
- Check your internet connection and data plan to make sure it is not exhausted and there is a signal.
- Update both BeReal app and your mobile OS (Android or iOS) to the latest stable version.
- Using a VPN is a good idea if you want to protect yourself but sometimes, it can lead to issues like slow connection, lags, etc. Maybe that’s why BeReal is not working.
- Cache and app data are known to cause all sorts of issues. We have a guide that explains how to clear cache on all devices.
- Try uninstalling the app. That will do two things. It will clear all data and force you to sign back in; another common trick known to work when mobile apps don’t work.
- Reset phone settings.
1. Clear Corrupt Database (iPhone)
On iPhones, BeReal has some additional options that will allow the app to clear corrupt databases automatically in the background.
- Go to Settings > Apps > BeReal > Advanced.
- Enable Clear database if corrupted option. You may also enable Clear account data at next launch but then you will need to sign back in every time. Only do it if BeReal is still not working for you.
2. Grant Camera Permissions (Android Only)
If you are unable to post a BeReal, you need to check whether the app has permission to use the camera or not. The option to give permissions for the BeReal app only appears on Android, not on iPhones.
- Open Settings on your Android.
- Go to Apps > BeReal > Permissions.
- Allow permissions for the camera for BeReal to function correctly. BeReal may ask for additional permissions too.
