Edward Kenway didn't set out to make enemies. He just wanted to steal a dead man's identity and cash in on a reward. That one decision drags him through a decade of double crosses, and by the end of it, a long list of Templars, pirates, and former friends have all tried to put him in the ground. Here's the list of all bosses in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, in the order the story throws them at you.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Bosses Explained

I will explain all of the bosses one by one, in which mission you can find them, and how to defeat them:

1. Duncan Walpole

Walpole shows up in the opening hour, and this fight barely counts as one. He is a turncoat Assassin fleeing towards Havana, and by the time you corner him in the southern clearing of Cape Bonavista, he's already hurt from a fall off his horse.

What matters here isn't the fight, it's what you find on him afterward. You walk away with his robes, a mysterious glass cube, and a treasure map. That cube is the reason Edward gets tangled up with the Templars and Assassins in the first place.

2. Bartholomew Roberts

You meet Roberts twice in the game:

The first fight happens in Havana during A Man They Call Sage. You can't use your weapons, and Roberts has to stay alive, so you'll need to rely on blocking, countering, and grappling. Don't try to finish the fight quickly. Just time your counters well and keep defending until the fight ends.

Much later, in Royal Misfortune, Roberts is back. This time, he's carrying a piece of Observatory technology and refuses to hand it over. You're no longer trying to help him; Your goal is to assassinate him now.

3. Julien du Casse

Du Casse is your first assassination target. You find him on his ship at Great Inagua during A Single Madman. He walks around the upper deck and is much better at dodging attacks than most enemies this early in the game.

Take your time instead of rushing the fight. If you attack carelessly, it's easy to make mistakes and lose the advantage. The best tip is just to climb on the beams on top of the ship, then jump to assassinate Du Casse directly from above.

4. Laurens Prins

Prins isn't a normal boss fight in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. During Traveling Salesman and Unmanned, you discover that he bought Roberts and plans to sell him at an auction in Kingston. You and James Kidd sneak onto his plantation to disrupt his plans and rescue the Sage.

5. Governor Peter Chamberlaine

Chamberlaine appears during the Nassau blockade. While Woodes Rogers is trying to offer pardons, Chamberlaine ignores the plan and orders every pirate ship in the harbor to be destroyed. You have to stop him before those orders are carried out.

You need to kill him during the Commodore Eighty-Sixed mission, jumping from the rigging onto his ship while he's giving orders to his crew, or you can even assassinate him while he is talking to his crew on the beach area near the tents.

6. Charles Vane

Vane spends much of the game fighting beside Edward. After the events of Marooned, the two of you are stranded on Isla Providencia. As time passes, Vane loses his mind and starts stealing your food and water.

In the end, you have to track him through the island and stop him. The fight is more about seeing his downfall than facing a difficult boss. To assassinate him, just follow the marker until you see the prompt to knock him out.

7. Josiah Burgess and John Cockram

Burgess and Cockram once sailed with Hornigold before accepting the King's pardon and joining the Templars. You find them together in Príncipe during Trust is Earned, where your goal is to kill both of them with one double assassination. Wait in a high tree until you see both of the bosses meet up in the middle. Time your attack well, and you can eliminate both before either one alerts the guards.

8. Benjamin Hornigold

Hornigold starts the game as one of Edward's allies. By Murder and Mayhem, he's working against you and tracking Edward and Roberts near Príncipe. Roberts won't help you reach the Observatory until Hornigold is gone, so you have to hunt down and sink his ship near Santanillas.

To assassinate Hornigold, you need to keep following him until the top of the pyramid, and kill him there.

9. Woodes Rogers

Rogers is the first of the game's three main Templar leaders to die. During A Governor No Longer, you track him to Kingston and sneak into a party celebrating the end of his time as Governor of the Bahamas. He doesn't expect Edward to walk in and assassinate him. You need to kill him from the back while he is giving his speech.

10. El Tiburón

When you finally reach Torres in Havana during Tainted Blood, his bodyguard, El Tiburón, steps in first. His armor blocks melee attacks, so fighting him with your swords won't get you very far. Switch to your pistols and shoot him instead. You can also use objects around the area to make the fight easier.

11. Laurens Torres

Torres is the last Templar leader you'll face and the main target Edward has been chasing throughout the story. You finally confront him during Tainted Blood and again in the final mission, Ever a Splinter, at the Observatory.

Unlike the other bosses, Torres stays calm throughout the encounter. The fight includes plenty of dialogue, so it's worth taking your time instead of rushing to finish it. You also need to disable the laser devices first before you can assassinate him.

By the end of the story, you'll have faced twelve bosses in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced from different sides of the conflict. Each one plays an important role in Edward's journey, leading up to the final showdown at the Observatory.

If you are a completionist and want to claim a trophy connected to these bosses, you can get The Memory of My Enemy trophy after you display all these character portraits in your manor.

Why can't you use weapons against El Tiburón?

Who is the final boss of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced?

Laurens Torres, the Templar Grandmaster, in the climactic confrontation at the Observatory during Ever a Splinter.
