How to Make iPhone Ring Instead of Vibrate
If your iPhone is just vibrating instead of ringing, you must have enabled silent mode on it. Basically, Apple offers a feature on iPhone where you can make it vibrate in silent mode. You must turn off the silent mode on your iPhone to turn the ringer back on.
Essentially, all iPhones come with a physical silent button that lets you put it on silent. You must have accidentally turned it on and that’s why your iPhone must be only vibrating instead of ringing. Therefore, look for the Silent button on the left side of your iPhone. If you see an orange line inside the button, it means silent mode is enabled on your iPhone. Push the button upwards towards the screen of your iPhone to turn off silent mode. That’s it. Your iPhone will start ringing for incoming calls.
Now whether you want to make your iPhone vibrate or not vibrate for incoming calls depends on your settings. If you want to enable or disable vibration in ring mode, go to iPhone Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Turn off the toggle next to Play Haptics in Ring mode to turn off the vibration. Similarly, use the Play Haptics in Silent Mode toggle to choose whether your iPhone should vibrate in silent mode or not.
Tip: In case the side switch doesn’t work and you want to turn off the silent mode that vibrates on your iPhone without the switch, go to iPhone Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch. Enable the toggle next to AssistiveTouch. A floating button will show on the screen. Tap on it and select Device from the menu followed by Unmute. How to Make Android Phone Ring Instead of Vibrate
If your Android phone only vibrates but doesn’t ring, you need to turn off the vibration mode on your phone. There are three ways to do so.
Method 1: Turn off the Vibration Mode on Android Phone
To turn off the vibration sound profile on your Android phone, follow these steps:
1. Press the Volume Up or Down button on your Android phone.
2. A volume slider will show up with a vibrate or bell icon at the top. If there’s a vibrate icon, that means your phone is on vibrate mode and that’s why it’s not ringing. Tap on this icon and select the Bell icon. Do not select the Bell icon with a bar on it as it will put your phone on silent mode.
That’s it. You have turned off the vibration mode on your Android phone.
Tip: If the Sound modes do not appear on the volume slider, you must check the Quick Settings panel and turn off the vibration mode.
Method 2: Turn off Automatic Enabling of Vibration Mode
In case your Android phone keeps switching back to vibration mode where the phone doesn’t ring, there are chances that the ringing shortcut is enabled on your phone. Basically, if you press the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time on some Android phones, it will automatically put your phone on vibrate. You must disable this shortcut as shown below:
1. Open Settings on your Android phone.
2. Go to Sound and Vibration and turn off the toggle next to Shortcut to prevent ringing.
Method 3: Change Ringtone
Typically, the above two methods should help you in turning the ringer back on. However, if your phone continues to vibrate only instead of ringing, you should check the ringtone settings.
1. On your Android phone, go to Settings.
2. Tap on Sound and Vibration followed by Phone ringtone.
3. First, make sure a ringtone is selected instead of the None option. Secondly, try changing the ringtone to a different one. It could be that the ringtone that you are using has some problem and that’s why your Android phone doesn’t have an audible ringtone. Press the Save button after choosing a different ringtone.
