Samsung Galaxy phones have many hidden features and one of them is Edge Lighting. When Edge Lighting is enabled, the borders of your phone’s screen will light up when you receive a new notification. This helps notify the user about a new notification without needing to pick it up and check it. You can customize the Edge Lighting in such a way that you will quickly know which app or contact is sending the notification Let’s check how to setup and use Edge Lighting on Samsung Galaxy phones.

Change Notification Pop-up Color Based on Keywords
What’s even more exciting is that you can customize and set the brief notification pop-up’s color according to keywords. Let’s say you have a contact called Manan. You need to add the keyword Manan and choose a color for it. Whenever you receive a notification from the selected contact, the pop-up notification at the top of the screen will light up in the chosen color.
To add keywords, follow these steps:
1. In Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style, select Colour by keyword.
2. Enter the keyword in the text field. It can be the contact name or any word in the notification. However, make sure to enter it in the exact same way as it’s case-sensitive (capital and small letters should be written in the same manner). Then, press the + (add) icon to add the keyword.
3. Once added, tap on the color icon next to your keyword and select the preferred color.
4. At any time, if you want to remove the keyword, tap on the (-) icon next to the keyword.
Note: The brief notification style must be enabled for the app, otherwise, keywords specific to that app will not work.
Use Edge Lighting on the Lock Screen
Edge Lighting works both when the screen is on or off i.e., on the lock screen. To make sure Edge Lighting works on the lock screen as well, go to Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style and enable the toggle next to Show even while the screen is off.
