GTA 6 Leaks Full Timeline – Story So Far

If you've been anywhere near gaming social media this past week, you have probably seen GTA 6 footage popping up everywhere. Footage that Rockstar definitely didn't put out. A mystery leaker (or group) calling themselves CyberLeek has been releasing gameplay clips, map images, and some bold demands, and the situation has escalated fast. From the first basketball clip to federal subpoenas, here's the full GTA 6 timeline of leaks, broken down day by day.

1. August 18th - The Day GTA 6 CyberLeek Leaks Started

August 18th marked the start of the GTA 6 timeline of leaks. Two gameplay videos and an alleged full Leonida map appeared online, all linked to a website and crypto project run by someone calling themselves CyberLeek.

The "Basketball" clip showed Jason Duval playing basketball outside his home, revealing character animations and suggesting that side activities can affect character stats. The second clip, "Random 1", was a bit spicier. Jason drives around, then pulls a truck driver out of their vehicle and beats them up, which feels very on-brand for GTA.

Alongside the videos, CyberLeek published an alleged GTA 6 map and launched their website and $CYBERLEEK memecoin on Solana. CyberLeek claimed the coin would help fund infrastructure for similar actions against other publishers.

2. August 19th - More Clips and a Cutscene

Day two picked up where day one left off, with two more videos and a couple of additional map images.

The third clip, the "Taser" video, showed Jason stealing a security guard's taser and using it against him. But more importantly, this video included a short cutscene clip of Jason and Cal Hampton at the end (and the choice of scene actually sounds like a taunt for Rockstar), which raised the stakes immediately. If CyberLeek had cutscene footage, spoiling the actual story was suddenly a real possibility.

The fourth video, "Junkies", introduced Zombix, a drug that restores health but becomes less effective with repeated use, potentially hinting at a drug tolerance mechanic.

Two cropped map images also dropped on August 19: one showing a location called Dalton Island, and another with Tequesta Retreat, Gloriana Key, and Catalan Key. These all look like an archipelago south of Vice City.

CyberLeek also used this day's video to call out fake impersonator accounts on X, Discord, and Instagram. Apparently, impersonators were already editing old posts to make it look like they'd predicted the leaks in advance. CyberLeek made it clear that their only official channels are their website and Telegram.

By the end of August 19th, four gameplay videos had leaked, while Rockstar and Take-Two had yet to publicly comment.

3. August 20th - Aerial View Clip

This was the day the CyberLeek situation took a major turn, raising bigger questions about how much of GTA 6 could actually be in their hands.

The fifth clip, "Plane," showed Jason flying over a large section of Vice City, giving fans the clearest look yet at the game's scale. But the ending caused the biggest reaction: the player fired bullets into a wall to spell "LEEK," suggesting CyberLeek had access to a working, playable build of GTA 6.

CyberLeek also introduced a token-based voting system to decide what would leak next. Users could send $CYBERLEEK to vote for:

The plane option won with more than 147,000 tokens, or around 64.4% of the vote.

By the afternoon of August 20, $CYBERLEEK was worth around $0.0012 per token. The entire token was valued at roughly $1.23 million, while about $198,000 was available for people to buy and sell it. Traders had already exchanged around $3.89 million worth of the token.

The biggest thing to watch out for is that the 10 biggest wallets owned more than half of all the tokens. In simple terms, a small group of people controls a huge chunk of $CYBERLEEK. If those holders suddenly decide to sell, the token's price could drop very quickly.

Notably, CyberLeek also referred to Arion Kurtaj, the British teenager behind the massive 2022 GTA 6 hack, as "our colleague" in a Telegram statement during this period. Make of that what you will. Kurtaj was recently released from indefinite imprisonment at a secure hospital and is awaiting a retrial.

Also, by this time, it was reported that Take-Two has lost $2.8 billion in market value.

4. August 21st - Hypercar and Subpoenas

August 21st was the busiest day of the whole situation so far, and not just because of another gameplay clip. The sixth clip, "Hypercar 1," showed Jason driving a high-end Thrax through Vice City. It arrived roughly 29 hours after the Plane video, marking CyberLeek's longest gap between leaks so far.

While the hypercar clip was making the rounds, Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar's parent company) officially filed federal subpoenas naming two major companies: Microsoft and Discord. The filings described the leaked material as "stolen" and requested account data, server logs, and communications that could help identify CyberLeek.

On the same day, journalist Jason Schreier's Bloomberg article confirmed that as of August 21st, Rockstar still does not know who CyberLeek is. Despite everything that's happened, the leaker remains anonymous.

Then, about six hours after the hypercar clip went live, CyberLeek added a brand new "Contact" page to their website offering paid advertising, requests for specific gameplay footage, and negotiations. The latter reportedly required a 400 XMR fee, worth around $160,000, just to start a conversation.

On top of that, CyberLeek also launched a backup channel for allegedly leaked Rockstar legal documents and contracts, suggesting the group may have access to more than GTA 6 development files.

By the end of the day, speculation about a potential public release of the GTA 6 dev build was spreading, although CyberLeek had not confirmed it.

5. August 22nd - Judge Grants Subpoenas, Xbox Responds

The legal battle moved quickly on August 22nd. A New York District Court judge approved Take-Two's subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord, requiring both companies to provide information linked to suspected CyberLeek accounts.

The requests include account details, IP addresses, device identifiers, linked services, internal records, and relevant Microsoft OneDrive content.

Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet also confirmed that Microsoft is cooperating with Take-Two and Rockstar, saying the company is working to help protect their creative work and intellectual property. The big question now is whether the requested data can actually help investigators identify CyberLeek. For now, the legal investigation is officially in motion.

And still, another 2-minute clip surfaced. This time, Jason is seen driving the same hypercar and then robbing gas stations. You can see a lot of improvements in the way NPCs behave around you in this clip. It ended with Jason entering a strip club.

6. August 23rd - Strip Club

The eighth CyberLeek leak gave players a closer look at Jason inside one of GTA 6's adult locations. The previous leak had only shown Jason walking through the entrance hallway. This time, the footage showed him actually entering the Delights strip club.

Inside, topless dancers can be seen performing on the main stage, while other dancers appear at tables with customers. Several NPCs are also visible sitting and interacting around the room.

Another interesting detail was a previously unseen cutscene. Jason says, "I gotta take a leak," before the scene cuts to a restroom. He then stands at a urinal while an older NPC starts talking to him.

7. August 24th - Wasted Screen, Lucia, and Night Aerial View

The ninth CyberLeek leak is a two-minute clip that shows the GTA 6 Wasted screen for the first time. Jason visits a gas station and encounters an NPC filling a bathtub in his pickup truck with gasoline. Jason steals the truck, runs over the owner while escaping, and then crashes into another vehicle, causing the truck to explode and killing him.

After the Wasted screen, the footage returns to the restroom scene from the previous leak, where an objective telling Jason to "Return to Lucia" appears, suggesting that Lucia is accessible in the leaked build.

And then, the tenth GTA 6 leak gives another aerial look at Vice City, with Jason flying a stunt plane over the city at night. The footage shows dense traffic, bright buildings, boats, yachts, Vice City International Airport, and parts of Mount Kalaga, while also revealing several previously unseen radio stations.

It also appears to reveal songs from artists like George Strait, Tommy Richman, Lindsey Buckingham, and Jamiroquai. Overall, the leak gives a better look at how large and active Vice City could feel at night, although the radio and music details remain unofficial.

Should You Worry About GTA 6 Spoilers?

If you want to go into GTA 6 clean, now is the time to mute anything GTA-related on X or any social media and step back from Reddit. The clips are everywhere, and with more allegedly on the way (because CyberLeek has made it clear they have no plans to stop), it's only going to get harder to avoid them as we get closer to November.

The official Netflix Extended Look showcase for GTA 6 is still set for August 27th, which is less than a week away from the time of writing. That'll be a six-hour Netflix exclusive before going up on other platforms. Whatever CyberLeek has shown, Rockstar's own showcase is still coming.

GTA 6 is still scheduled for November 19th, 2026 (check the countdown timer if you want to know how many days left until the game drops) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Unless something drastic happens on either side, expect this situation to continue generating headlines all the way up to launch.
